Konoba Mate is a restaurant on the island of Korula, Croatia that offers a delicious and thoughtful menu. Despite its small size, this family-owned restaurant is highly praised for its outstanding quality of food, made from fresh and local ingredients. However, as the restaurant gains popularity, some dishes may not always be available and the service and atmosphere may not always be top-notch. Nonetheless, Konoba Mate remains one of the best restaurants on the island, with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for enjoying a memorable dining experience. The restaurant also offers a selection of items in its shop, including lemon marmalade and green tomato marmalade. Konoba Mate's menu includes seasonal and regional specialties, and a reservation is necessary during defined time slots. The pricing level is above average, but the exceptional quality of the food makes it worth the cost.

Family owned restaurant with an modern interpretation of Croatian cuisine. Price above the average but also the quality of the food is outstanding. Menu includes seasonal and regional specialities. Reservation is necessary and only possible in defined times lots (see homepage)
We had one of our best meals in Croatia at this delightful taverna. reservation is necessary, as the place is almost always full (for dinner).
Everything (from appertisers to dessert) was very unique and wonderfully delicious! I have attached some photos here of all the dishes that we had ordered, and I wish we can have them all over again. They were that good :-)! The surprise at the end of our meal was the cheesecake that we ordered for dessert. so unlike the normal cheesecake, this was made with fig, and contained different base.
Service was prompt, the atmosphere was very cosy in a little enchanting village that looked so tranquil and atmospheric at night.
Overall, we an highly recommend this amazing konoba to others wanting some uniquely prepared authentic dishes.
I've visited Konoba Mate on a number of occasions over the years and one thing was always a constant - the quality of food.
The menu isn't super big (albeit there are things that aren't on the menu), but it's very thoughtful, local and super tasty.
But, as with everything popular, it is slowly becoming less 'small and cosy' and more of a well run restaurant business, which has drawbacks, not all dishes are available and the service and atmosphere aren't stellar.
However, this is still one of the absolute best restaurants on the island of Korčula and 100% worth a visit (or two). Make sure to call way ahead and get a table in the 'Dvor'!
The overall experience would be fine if we did not get really bad food poisoning from tuna steak that ruined quite a chunk of our holiday. On the other hand tuna pašticada was good, figs wrapped with pancetta and stuffed with ricotta were delicious, bread was homemade. The ambiance was very nice, while service was pleasant but slow. The cheesecake was very delicious.
Amazing restaurant, the best service and cozy atmosphere. This place is Micheling star restaurant but not with small portions and fancy space. Its old Dalmatian house and backyard, realy nice atmosphere and food is just amazing. All prepared food is grown by the family that run the restaurant. Taste is amazing journey through traditional flavors, balanced and tasty. And its not to expensive. Very nice experience, recommend! Note that reservation is needed.
Mate is perhaps the coziest spot in town, elevated rather than diminished by summer rainstorms. Kind and courteous service. Wine selection was limited but highly effective, recommendations on point. Fennel pasta was piping hot and perfect for the first day of autumn. Wish I’d had 3 stomachs.
Good tavern, in the old style. Homemade food, cheap and good quality. The service was fast and the staff very friendly. Environment in the old style of the village. Mandatory reservation and a bit of a problem with parking. The local told us to park sideways at the end of the road near the wall.
The ambience is very nice and you can see that a lot of effort has been put into it.
For appetizer we ate anchovies which are good but nothing special. The tomato …
